Meet the team

Kim Lane

It can be difficult to find work that aligns not only with interests and skills, but also with your overall ethos. However, Kim Lane did just that when she landed a role in the Kovacs Auckland showroom.

While Kim only began her new Sales Support role in March her previous working life within the interiors industry has allowed her to hit the ground running.

This experience, including tutoring interior design and working for sheepskin designers Wilson & Dorset, ensures Kovacs customers now have another expert eye to call on.

“I’m often someone’s first point of contact with Kovacs in Auckland, so it’s important that they feel welcome and well looked-after,” she says.

The work comes easy to someone with a positive outlook and an (often undervalued) strength for being able to easily connect with people. So too has the change been made easier due to the values she shares with our company.

With a strong interest in sustainable fashion and design, Kim places great importance on living a low-impact lifestyle. She likes that Kovacs “highly values people and the planet”.

“Kovacs pieces are built to last and can be passed onto others to enjoy in time,” she says. “We’re living in a fast-paced time in history surrounded by disposable goods. So, it’s refreshing to promote a furniture range that is designed and created with longevity in mind, and crafted by people who love what they do.”

As a resident of a quiet coastal community, she also appreciates the vibrancy of the showroom’s central location, where “there’s always something happening”.

While Kim works assisting people with sound furniture choices, she also provides admin and general support to Samm, our Northern Region Sales Manager. Naturally, she’s often working on the presentation of our showroom. Current favourites include the Muse and the Bertie, although there’s always something else to consider.

Valuing a healthy work-life balance, she also loves to get out hiking and biking, and always enjoys the chance to explore new areas of the country. For Kim, “time with friends and family is also time well spent” and, having always been interested in craft, art, and design, new hobbies quicky become passions.

“I’ve been learning basketry techniques using natural fibres, with the idea of turning these into sculpture,” she says. “I love working with my hands.”

For Kovacs, having Kim at our Auckland headquarters means knowing we are represented by someone who sees the worth in what we do. We hope she will continue to weave her magic here for many years to come.
